VOLUNTEER
Volunteering is a fun way to get more connected to your neighbors and community.
More than 500 people share their time with Mission Central each year and more help is always needed!
For most volunteer opportunities, the first step is to attend a Volunteer Orientation. We host at least two orientations each month to accommodate both day time and evening schedules. The orientations are held at our Community Resource Center and last about an hour. We can usually accommodate community service and service-learning volunteers; however, we suggest contacting us at least three months before your service hours need to be completed.
MOBILE FOOD PANTRY
*Volunteer Orientation and pre-registration are not required.
Volunteers are needed on the 2nd Friday of every month from 7:30 am – 11:30 am at the First United Methodist Church of Hurst. During this event, you’ll help unload an 18-wheeler full of fresh produce, meat, and pantry staples and help distribute those groceries to more than 200 families in our community. This is a great opportunity for church groups or corporate teams who wish to volunteer together and provide direct service to our guests.
Age requirements: Age 16-17 may volunteer with their parents’ permission. Age 12-15 may volunteer side-by-side with a parent or chaperone. Volunteers under age 12, please contact us prior to volunteering for more information.
VILLAGE LIBRARY
Help provide one-on-one tutoring to students in grades 1-9. Tutors volunteer for one hour a week, helping a child complete their homework and enrichment activities. This program takes place on weekday afternoons and is a great opportunity for those who wish to volunteer after normal work hours.

COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER/VILLAGE PANTRY
Help share food and resources with our neighbors in need! Opportunities include logistics volunteers who help pick donations from grocery stores and unload them at the Village Pantry, receptionists, lobby hosts, community resource specialists, sorters, and pantry assistants. These opportunities are available on weekdays, primarily from 10 am – 4 pm. (Logistics team members work earlier in the day – usually from 7 am – 10 am on weekdays.)

CAREER CENTER
Career Navigators help those who visit our Career Center identify their barriers to employment and create a plan for overcoming those barriers. Once a plan is in place, Career Navigators provide coaching and encouragement as career seekers make progress in their job search. Career Navigators will have a block of time each when they are available for appointments, and we will set these times when you begin volunteering.

COAT OF MANY COLORS RESALE SHOP/MISSION CENTRAL THRIFT STORE
Volunteers at these locations help accept, sort, and price donations, as well as assist with customer service. The stores are open Monday – Saturday from 10 am – 6 pm and volunteers are needed any time we are open. This is a great opportunity for those who would like to volunteer on Saturdays.
